In 2020, it all came full circle. The shapes and details Kamal had worked with since 2009 took form in 18K gold, diamonds and gemstones.

Today, EYE ADORE® and LOTUS are sought-after signatures of KAMAL. The jewelry is available at Bergdorf Goodman and by private appointment.

Her patterns expanded onto wallpaper, exploring repetition and scale in black, grey and gold.

Kamal approached West Elm with her stationery. They saw her patterns in porcelain. Together, they translated her designs into a dinnerware collection, taking the work from paper to the table while she continued to grow her stationery business.

Trained in graphic design at Pratt Institute, Kamal began her stationery business in 2009. She worked with copper dies, pressing her patterns into paper to leave an impression you could feel with your fingers. The eye and lotus motifs that would become EYE ADORE® and LOTUS were already taking shape in her paper designs.

A card or an invitation was made with someone in mind. That exchange between people continues in her jewelry.

Her paper designs appeared in Brides, Martha Stewart Weddings, Town & Country and Vanity Fair.

“I’m only now piecing it all together. Looking back at the paper, the copper dies, the patterns, I can see the jewelry in all of it. It was there before I knew where it would lead.”
